Hot Metal Services - ABOUT US PAGE
My name is David Seat, I have been working in Letterpress since 1971 where I started work at John H. Harland Check Printers in Nashville, TN at the age of 18. I started out learning to run a Miehle V-50 press then went into the National Guard, after I came back from Basic training and my schooling I was put on a Polar cutter cutting the checks apart and working on the cutter when it acted up I also worked on the Parker stitcher and a foil stamper plus a few other pieces of equipment. After two years I had enough of running the cutter and quit John Harland and went to work for my, then uncle-in-law running one of his Amoco service stations where i pumped gas, installed brakes, performed tune ups, etc. After a year I was called to apply for a job at another company called Check Printers, also in Nashville. This is where I learned to work on Linotype's, Vandercook proof presses, Miehle Verticals, McAdams three to a page presses along with everything else in the plant. I went to night school to learn air conditioning, and then a separate class to learn A/C and D/C circuits so we could take care of the electrical in the building. In 1979 I quit and went into business with Jerry Spurlock repairing Linotype's and Intertype"s around the state and then traveling U.S. wide.

Due to the fact that we are on the road for more than 250 days a year
your parts orders may be delayed in shipment. Please DO NOT
wait until the last minute to order supplies that you may need. I
will try to ship from stock in my truck when I can, but this may not
always be possible. As I cannot carry every part with me at all times.
